Zumeca
Based on a true story, Zumeca tells us about the first family of the Americas between a Spaniard, Miguel, and a Taino "Cacique" (Chieftain), Zumeca. Fleeing from his past, Miguel is haunted by deliriums of the old world. Zumeca, the tribes leader, sees something in Miguel, that he himself cannot see. This opens a path for a type of love that goes beyond language, culture, rituals. But does it transcend their basic human nature? Miguel and Zumeca try to run away from their destiny only to fulfill their own prophecy. A broken man from a decadent world is given an opportunity at a new life by a woman that is full of light, great emotional intelligence and elevated connection with nature. A world of magic, fire, night, rivers, caves and spirits that perish anyone who resists them. We see the historical conquest of the “new world” through the intimacy of two people.
