Hooked
Hooked follows filmmaker Glen Fulthorpe's unflinching exploration of his father's heroin addiction. By interspersing haunting archival footage with present-day encounters, Glen revisits a crucial moment from 2006 when he documented two young addicts, introduced by his father, Steve. When Steve overdoses during the filming, it triggers a series of events that Glen grapples with for years. The documentary chronicles Glen's journey as he reconnects with both people with addiction—one now in recovery, the other still battling addiction—while seeking answers about his father's addiction and eventual death. Facing his struggles with anger, forgiveness, and fatherhood, Glen provides an introspective examination of addiction's wide-reaching effects, generational trauma, and the journey toward healing.
